What
The Centering Prayer group was started as a way for the leader to find a way to connect with God again; to establish a haven of peace and solace in this mad paced world; to bring understanding to life through studying the Word of God. A number of different forms of Centering/Contemplative prayer will be explored during this four week series:
Where...
Trinity Episcopal Church, 1 Blue Hill River Rd., Canton, MA 02021. Map It.
The group will meet either in the chapel, or the main church, depending on the size of the group. Note that the entrance to the church is on the side of the church opposite Blue Hill River Rd. Many think that's the back of the church. Actually, it's the front. Apparently the architect wanted the Big Window to look out onto Big Blue.
When...
Centering Prayer is currently on hold due to the leader's pregnancy. Please check back for more information.
Common Courtesies...
- Centering prayer is a very intimate experience, as such, people walking in during the middle of a session may be very distracting. Please be on time, if not early. If you will arrive late, please wait to enter until a good pause in what's going on.
- The continuity of the group membership also makes a great contribution to the atmosphere. So please, once signed up, please attend all sessions, unless an emergency arises. It is only for 4 weeks. If you will not be able to make it, please contact the coordinater. When you sign-up you will be given the contact information necessary.
- Some of these prayer forms can be very emotianally intense. Anything that is said during the sessions stays in the sessions.
- We come to experience God, and share our experience with each other. All comments are to be made in the first person. Please no judging/commenting on other people's experience/comments/etc.
- If you decide after the first session that it's not for you, which is totally understandable, please let the coordinator know. Don't just drop-out, or disappear. We tend to worry about the health and well-being of all those we know.
- Feel free to share your thoughts and comments on the prayer styles used, and the format of the group. We are learning, just as you are. We want this to be a special experience for all concerned.
